From Medellín

Public Transport: From Medellin there are two options:

Take the direct bus to Mompos. This service is operated by Coopetrans and leaves Medellin the evening arriving in Mompos the following morning.

You can also take a bus to Sincelejo and from here a collectivo taxi to Magangué.

Flights: We recommend taking a flight to Corozal (just 15 minutes from Sincelejo) with either Satena or ADA and from there to Magangué-Mompós in public transport. (see the section on Magangue).

By Car or Motorcycle: Take the road heading to Monteria, pass Sincelejo and then turn towards Cartagena and make the turning to Magangue at the crossroads called El Bongo. In Magangue head to Yati and take the ferry to Bodega. From Bodega you can continue to Mompos Check the ferry timetables on this page.

Approximate journey time: 10 hours

From Barrancabermeja

Public Transport: If you are coming from Barrancabermeja you can catch a boat from here all the way to El Banco (Magdalena), and from there get to Mompos in a 4×4. The boats leave at 6:30am in the El Yuma Port.

There is also a bus option from Barrancabermeja to El Banco (Magdalena). Approximate journey time: 8 hours. Timetable: 5:00 am, 6:00 am y 8:00 am. Operators: Cotaxi and Cotransmagdalena. We cannot recommend the bus at midday as you will arrive too late in El Banco to catch transport to Mompos and you will have to spend a night in El Banco.

If you plan on spending the night in Barrancabermeja we can recommend hotels for you.

By Car or Motorcycle: Arriving from Bucaramanga take the road towards San Alberto (Cesar) and from there the Ruta del Sol. Head to El Burro (Magdalena) and then take the road to El Banco (Magdalena).
